The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan is powered by a Turbocharged 2.0-liter TSI engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission that produces up to 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. The new VW Tiguan comes with standard front-wheel drive for up to an EPA-estimated 29 MPG on the highway, while available 4MOTION all-wheel drive adapts to the roads and driving conditions by distributing power between the front and rear wheels to help optimize traction, stability and confidence.
In comparison, the Honda CR-V uses a 190-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter engine with 179 lb-ft of torque, and it can be equipped with available Real Time AWD™, which can react to slippery conditions and distribute power for smoother cornering. Taking things to the next level, the 2024 VW Tiguan can tow up to 1,500 pounds when equipped with a dealer-installed trailer hitch, and with Active Control, you can switch between four different available all-wheel-drive modes—including Snow, On-Road, Off-Road and Off-Road Custom Mode—with the turn of a dial.

For 2024, the base Volkswagen Tiguan will get a mid-model-year update that includes MIB3 Composition Media with wireless charging and wireless App-Connect. Currently offered is the MIB2 Composition Color unit with a 6.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, while all other trims feature the MIB3 infotainment system with 8-inch glass-covered displays and Composition Media—or Discover Media with navigation, which is standard on SEL R-Line.
